Roller doors are a fickle contraption but one that also comes with a lot of benefits. Not only do they offer a large and useful entryway into most homes, but they can be quite strong against the weather elements that otherwise would ravage the front of your house. However, roller door damage is an unfortunately common occurrence for most owners, as these doors do wear out the mechanism they use. If you notice any of the following signs in your roller door, then it is time to call for an expert to help you restore it back to its original state.

Tougher Than Normal Area While Rolling Down Door

When you are opening and closing your roller door, it should have a very smooth movement, especially if it is an automatic roller door that is dependent only on a motor. If you notice the roller door often gets caught at a specific point, then that indicates there is something wrong either in the automatic engine or the specific area that the roller door struggles over. If the problem persists, you should consider getting it looked at, as at the very least it will not get better on its own and it is liable to get far worse. It can be anything from a loose component to a poorly constructed door frame.

Speed Changes Dramatically

This is a problem that automatic roller door owners can face when the engine that controls the speed of your roll is old and has not been serviced for many years. The weight and overall complexity of the task will wear down your engine if it is not looked after through regular servicing, and this combined with all the battering and punishment it takes during harsh weather events can lead to the component responsible for the speed malfunctioning. Do not attempt to drive through a roller door that is malfunctioning in such a way, as it is very unpredictable and dangerous.

Odd Noises

You never want to hear any noises outside of the usual sounds you have grown accustomed to when operating your roller door. Just like when you hear strange noises from your car or computer, when these out-of-place noises start, it is only a matter of time before you start seeing negative real-world implications. Something is either out of place or worn down to the bone, and you need a roller door repairs professional to take a look and find it before it gives way completely. You may just save yourself a couple hundred dollars!

About Me
Fredrick's Door Advice Blog

Hello! My name is Fred and this is my blog which will help you to understand how to install, maintain and remove the doors from your home. When I moved into an old house, I decided to remove the old doors so they could be repaired or replaced with new ones. However, I didn't have a lot of knowledge about how to do this. I contacted a local door contractor. The contractor came to my home and carried out some work. While he worked, I chatted with him and he gave me lots of great advice. I hope you find this blog useful.
